Catenary works

The Catenary Assembly and Logistics Platform at ETF

The Catenary Assembly and Logistics Platform (PLAC), a veritable logistics hub, is strategically located in Montereau (77), offering a direct connection to the rail and motorway network. It is here that the various ETF Catenary Agency worksites converge and take shape.

At the heart of PLAC, a dedicated team takes care of the meticulous preparation of the equipment essential for electrical infrastructures. Each part is carefully selected to guarantee the quality and reliability of our work.

The PLAC teams prepare numerous catenary assemblies for ETF projects, such as the modernisation of the RER D infrastructure on the Paris-Melun line. In response to the increase in passenger numbers, SNCF Réseau has launched an initiative to reinforce the catenaries, requiring meticulous preparation of the catenary poles.

The work is being carried out by the ETF Caténaires IDF agency, with support from Feroway for rail safety (APLAM, APS9). PLAC is preparing the catenary poles and fittings for the installation teams.

The project is divided into three sections:

The first section, between Paris Gare de Lyon and Combs-la-Ville, was completed between 2020 and 2022.

The second section, between Grigny and Corbeil-Essonnes, ran from September 2021 to December 2023, involving 80 ETF employees and 60 weeks of night work. This phase included the construction of 300 foundations, the installation of 450 fittings and the unwinding of 42 km of feeder. PLAC played a key role in preparing more than 200 catenary poles with armouring, contributing to the success of this phase of the project. Finally, the last section, from Combs to Melun, began in January 2024 and will continue until 2027.

Thanks to the quality of their offers and the excellence of their work, ETF’s catenary teams were able to win each section, meeting deadlines and guaranteeing minimal disruption to users.
