Successful Leverkusen project promotes rail connectivity
The Rhine-Rhur region is one of Germany’s most densely populated conurbations. With increasing demands for passenger travel, the introduction of the Rhein-Ruhr-Express (RRX) promises a fast, sustainable and efficient solution to these needs.
Positioned between long-distance passenger rail and regional express, the RRX offers essential connectivity along the Cologne – Düsseldorf – Duisburg – Essen – Bochum – Dortmund – (Hamm) axis. With frequencies of up to four times an hour in each direction, the RRX will offer passengers a fast and reliable alternative.
As part of this major project, THG carried out work for Deutsche Bahn in the Leverkusen area for the P.F.A 1.3 section from Leverkusen-Rheindorf to Langenfeld-Berghausen. This work included a full range of activities, from traffic installations to the construction of acoustic walls, the dismantling of existing obstacles and the laying of underground cables.
Thanks to the expertise and commitment of our teams, this work was completed on schedule, despite the significant amount of additional work involved in the project, and the modernised tracks have been fully operational since September 2023.
