FEROWAY’s Team SPOT: moving trains in complete safety
With a reactive command post operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, FEROWAY’s SPOT team is the control tower that ensures the safety of rail works and machine traffic.
In 2023, 1,300 routes were completed, covering more than 158,687 kilometres across France, thanks to a dedicated team of 6 train drivers and 5 ground staff. This performance is supported by a strong network of over 80 ETF drivers and 50 ground staff, ready to meet the growing needs of the industry.
The collaboration between ETF branches and FEROWAY is a model of efficiency, particularly illustrated by the project with CARDEM (VINCI Construction) for the deconstruction of the former PSA plant at Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine For 6 months, our teams orchestrated the rail transport of the rubble to Longueil-Sainte-Marie, enabling 70% of the concrete waste to be evacuated by rail. This operation avoided the passage of 1,500 lorries and contributed to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The 44,000 tonnes of crushed concrete were recycled by CEMEX, demonstrating FEROWAY’s commitment to the circular economy.
To complete the project, ETF teams adapted the old railway line to facilitate train access to the site. Three ETF branches joined forces to meet the requirements of the AP-HP, the end customer: the Île-de-France operations team for the track works, the mechanised works branch for the provision of locomotives and wagons, and the FEROWAY teams for the management and safety of the operations.
Thanks to its technical expertise and responsiveness, Team SPOT ensures the routing of trains for its internal and external customers, reinforcing FEROWAY’s status as a trusted partner in rail safety.
