Catenary works

Express catenary work on the Cévennes line

ETF catenary teams responded to an emergency incident on the Cévennes line at Monistrol-d’Allier (43). They were carried out following a traffic disruption caused by a rockfall that damaged several poles holding the sensor nets.

Did you know? Detector nets, also known as protective metal nets, are frequently installed along railway lines. The purpose of these electrified nets is to warn train drivers of the likely presence of obstacles on or near the tracks. Catenary work is therefore essential and strategic to ensure the safety of the tracks and passengers.

In order to restore the network and allow trains to run, ETF took action on behalf of SNCF Réseau, replacing 4 poles in the vicinity of kilometre 539.750, locating the concrete reinforcing bar to seal in the threaded rods and repairing the layers of wire.

This intervention illustrates ETF’s commitment to rail mobility and the safety of the national rail network.
