Accessibility upgrade at Besançon-Mouillère station on the Franco-Swiss Horlogers line
The modernisation of the watchmakers’ railway line linking Besançon in the Doubs to La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland has been successfully completed. The project, which aims to optimise network performance and guarantee the regularity and safety of rail traffic, required an investment of 53.5 million euros, financed by the Burgundy-Franche-Comté Region, the State and SNCF Réseau.
Besançon-Mouillère station has been made accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM). ETF’s Civil Engineering and Railway Signalling teams carried out crucial operations, such as raising the platforms and laying out the walkways.
The works, carried out between 4 March and 8 July 2024, also included the creation of rainwater and public lighting networks. Carried out safely and on schedule, these closed-line operations ensured optimum execution. The installation of new rail signalling infrastructure was a priority, ensuring greater regularity and safety for rail traffic.
This project demonstrates ETF’s commitment to improving the accessibility and safety of rail infrastructure, while meeting the expectations of passengers and its customers.
