54 km of catenaries regenerated on the Transversale Pyrénéenne
ETF has completed the regeneration of the catenaries on the line between Lannemezan and Tarbes (65), also known as the Transversale Pyrénéenne. This strategic route, used daily by almost 50 trains carrying more than 10,000 passengers, has benefited from an essential upgrade to ensure its reliability and prepare it to receive international trains in the future.
The project, co-financed by SNCF Réseau and the Occitanie Region, required four months of preparation and six months of intensive work. In all, 54 km of catenaries were renovated, including 300 poles and 250 km of conductors. This ambitious project involved 200 operational staff and around twenty supervisors, demonstrating the agency’s ability to successfully complete large-scale projects.
In addition to improving regional mobility, ETF is also committed to sustainable employment. As part of the project, 9,400 hours of work were carried out, with specific training for catenary operators provided prior to the works. This structuring project not only improves infrastructure, but also contributes to the development of local skills and the creation of sustainable jobs.
